Fixed Wire Electrical Testing

electrical testing
This is a vital procedure to ensure the safety of employees, customers and tenants often referred to as periodic inspection.

Once your  inspection is completed, you will receive a EICR certificate.

All hard wired installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to keep checking whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use. Such safety tests are commonly referred to as 'periodic inspection'.

Periodic inspection should only be carried out by electrically competent persons, such as registered electricians.
Periodic Inspection Frequency
They will check the condition of the electrics against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations.
Checking our appliances are in full working service keeps us compliant with many Health and Safety regulations, such as “The health and safety at work Act 1974”.

Visual checks of equipment should be conducted frequently, any damage to wiring should be repaired by a person with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to process this work safely, CSE are NIC EIC approved, fully trained and qualified.

As during the periodic inspection voltages are inspected which can be dangerous for different reasons. Low voltages can produce enough of a spark to ignite an explosion, we can ensure that your electrical equipment is fit for purpose and safe for all to use, by completing an insulation resistance test.

CSE will carry out a initial verification inspection and survey which will reveal if any circuits or electrical equipment are being overloaded, locate any potential electrical shock risks and fire hazards in an installation, identify any defective work, or highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.
Once completed you will be issued with an Electrical Condition Report (EICR), which will highlight any faults.

Portable Appliance Testing

electrical testing
This is a routine Inspection of some types of electrical appliance to check they are safe to use. Its purpose is to prevent accidents in the workplace.
This test should include both a visual inspection and a more in-depth check using specialist equipment. This test includes earth continuity, lead polarity, and insulation resistance checks.

At the end of a portable appliance test, every appliance should be marked ‘passed’ or ‘failed’. Ideally there should be a record of the results.

The following items require portable appliance electrical testing:
  •  Fixed appliances
  • Stationary appliances
  • IT appliances
  • Moveable appliances
  • Portable appliances
  • Cables and chargers
  • Hand Held appliances
